BEMIDJI STATE UNIVERSITY (BSU) invites qualified applicants to join our team as Fixed-Term Faculty Librarian, for the 2026-27 academic year. The A.C. Clark Library provides research and support services to currently enrolled students, faculty, staff and affiliated users. The faculty and staff are stewards of the library’s collection, both physical and electronic, curating and providing access to a wide range of resources, assisting patrons with how to find and use information and providing an environment for teaching, learning and collaboration.
Responsibilities of the Faculty Librarian include:
- Providing research assistance to students, faculty, and staff through research consultations, virtual reference platforms, and other means.
- Planning, designing, and delivering library instruction sessions and tours, and developing instructional content.
- Participating in promoting the library’s services through campus outreach efforts, including developing library programming and coordinating the library’s social media presence.
- Assisting with digitization efforts in BSU’s institutional repository, PINES.
- Supporting the E-textbooks / Course Reserves in the Library program and other textbook affordability initiatives.
- Overseeing the Library Graduate Assistants, including scheduling, training, and facilitating meetings.
- Participating in departmental governance activities and contributing to a collegial and supportive environment that advances the goals of the department.
- Some evening and weekend work may be required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications fort this position include:
- Master’s degree in library or information science from an ALA-accredited program at the time of appointment, or an equivalent graduate library science/information studies degree.
- Familiarity with academic research resources and tools.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience planning and teaching information literacy sessions, and/or creating instructional content.
- Knowledge of emerging trends in academic libraries.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to work well with diverse populations.
- A demonstrated commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism.
