SUMMARY:Watermark Reception for Cam Zebrun
DESCRIPTION:The public is invited to the opening reception for "My Wanderlust"\, a multi-media exhibit by Cam Zebrun on August 15 from 5 to 7pm. Zebrun will speak at 6pm.\n\n\n\nHis practice focuses on sculpture and collage. His sculptures are made from wood and painted with oils and watercolors. He utilizes the color and textures offered by their wooden surfaces. He frequently incorporates colored plexiglass and collage elements into his work. The convex shapes he uses suggest abstract representations of kayaks\, surfboards\, and arched forms found in nature\, like the edge of a waterfall\, the profile of a mountain ridge\, or the crest of a wave.\n\n\n\nZebrun explains\, "Recently\, my engagement with the natural world has become more inclusive in its focus\, drawing on many sources\, science\, history\, and deep time. Not only am I using my personal experiences and observations of our environment as inspiration\, but there is also an examination of geological time and its effects on the land as well as our need as humans to catalog\, interrupt\, and conquer our environment and the impact of climate change brought on by human activities. My practice is focused on sculpture which examines our environment through layers of context." \n\n\n\nThere is no admission fee for this event. Watermark is accessible and there is no fee to view exhibits or to visit the retail gallery during regular hours: Monday - Saturday from 10am to 5pm. 505 Bemidji Avenue N. in Bemidji\, MN. 218-444-7570.
