Her songwriting has been recognized nationally with an American Songwriter Lyric Contest Honorable Mention and ten Walnut Valley Festival NewSong Showcase wins. Her music has been described as "vivid and alive\, tender and poignant\, and altogether a gift for the listener." (Caryn Mirriam-Goldberg\, Kansas Poet Laureate Emeritus)\n\n\n\nJoy will be performing with her son Ryan Dugan. Ryan graduated with a music degree from Macalester College\, focusing on guitar and audio engineering. He lives in Minneapolis and performs with groups in both Minneapolis and Kansas City\, including Good Luck Alaska\, Joy Zimmerman\, Tension Bridge\, Geyser\, and The Taylors.\n\n\n\nHeadwaters Music and Arts is an independent non-profit multidisciplinary organization whose mission is to provide opportunities for creativity through instruction and to inspire community through music and the arts.
